Description

Under general supervision, the Application Analyst proactively supports the assigned applications and/or information system(s) for Memorial Hospital & Manor (MHM). The person in this position is responsible for helping to improve patient care and safety, billing or various process/system improvement through collaboration with other hospital staff and physicians. He/she is expected to build and/or proactively maintain multiple applications that support various departmental workflows at MHM. This person is responsible for ensuring that all users have the appropriate system access, that they receive training on the key functions of the application or information system(s) they support and that end users are effectively using the system which functions or supports as the hospital’s electronic legal health record. The Applications Analyst may be assigned to lead or participate in projects designed to improve workflow or implement new software/services that are medically focused. They will be the subject matter expert on several Meditech modules and respond to service desk issues and
requests as they are reported. This position has no supervisory responsibilities but is expected to help foster a strong team environment and mentor junior personnel. Requires after-hours support (when needed) and participation in the department on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in information technology, business administration or management, medical technology or other related field is required. An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or relevant certifications will be considered. The position requires over five (5) years of experience in an acute hospital setting with at least three (3) years in Information Technology with the following competencies:
• Experience using or maintaining Meditech in a hospital setting.
• Thorough understanding of hospital operations, interdepartmental
procedures and interdisciplinary workflows. Knowledge of the
processes in an ambulatory setting is helpful.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities, complex
projects and tasks.
• Exceptionally good judgment when analyzing facts and solving
problems. Recognizing and prioritizing patient safety issues
appropriately is critical.

Other experience that will be helpful in this position, including but is not limited to the following:
• Experience with project management tools, techniques and
principals.
• Knowledge of information system security (e.g., Health Information
Portability & Accountability Act, user access management/auditing,
roll based access, etc.)
• General understanding of the systems development lifecycle and
designing/implementing enterprise products in a complex
environment.
