Inpatient Care in the Medical/Surgical Unit

The Medical/Surgical Unit is the largest nursing unit at Memorial Hospital and Manor, and is well-equipped to care for patients who are admitted for various illnesses, injuries and surgeries. Caring for our community means serving a broad range of medical needs for a diverse group of individuals. Our nursing staff is capable of providing care for patients ranging in age from pediatrics to geriatrics. It is the goal of every staff member to ensure that you receive the finest care possible.

During your hospital stay, a multidisciplinary team will be involved in all aspects of your care. This team usually includes your physician or Hospitalist, nurse, therapist, case manager and social worker. A Discharge Planner will talk to you about your discharge from the hospital to ensure that your needs will be met when it's time for you to return home. A Patient Representative is available to help with any questions or concerns that you may have about your care.

For patients who have reached a point in their recovery where they no longer require hospitalization, but are physically not ready to return to their homes, Memorial Hospital and Manor's Swing Bed Program offers an alternative to a long-term care facility like a nursing home. (Click here to learn more about Short Term Care.)

NOTE: Please be aware that a parent or other caregiver is required to stay with pediatric patients throughout their hospital stay.
